Lena Lavinas

Lena Lavinas has been Professor of Welfare Economics at the Institute of Economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Senior Researcher at the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPQ).

 

She was a Member of the School of Social Science at the Institute of Advanced Study at Princeton in 2019-2020. She was a Visiting Professor at Princeton and the University of California Los Angeles and a Visiting Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Institute for Advanced Study) and the Freie Universität Berlin. She is the author of “The Takeover of Social Policy by Financialization: The Brazilian Paradox.”
