Thomas Südhof

With Thomas Südhof, the Einstein Foundation and the BIH have a Nobel prize laureate among their ranks. The neuroscientist received the award for the discovery of transport processes in cells. After studying medicine, among others at Harvard University, he completed his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. Since 2008 Südhof is Professor of Cell Physiology at the University of Stanford. In his Berlin project, he will focus on the question of how neurons in the brain communicate and how this communication is disrupted in diseases.
