How can we best protect sensitive data in times of big data and advancing digitization? Jean-Pierre Seifert, specialist in computer and communication security, is researching possible hardware-based security solutions. The enormous importance of his project is illustrated by the fact that previous research projects have shown that almost all hardware solutions being used commercially to date - even those that are supposed to protect governmental tasks with maximum security - are not adequate.
"In view of the recent massive data theft and the unauthorized publication of personal data from politicians and other public figures, it will be an enormous challenge to design effective or demonstrably secure security solutions that are still secure in the dawning age of the quantum computer," says Jean-Pierre Seifert.
