Douglas W. Stephan is Professor at the department of chemistry at the University of Toronto. As an Einstein Visiting Fellow Stephan conducted research at the Excellence Cluster UniCat. With his groundbreaking pioneering work on so-called frustrated Lewis pairs, the chemist created a new field of research and thus characterised the entire past decade in molecular chemistry. He also contributed to advances in chemistry in many other ways, whether in pure inorganic chemistry or in the industrial application of research.
