Stephen P. Cramer is an expert for synchrotron spectroskopy and Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis. As an Einstein Visiting Fellow, Cramer conducts his research at the Einstein Center for Catalysis and the Cluster of Excellence "Unifying Concepts in Catalysis" (UniCat). His research focuses on how bacteria degrade carbon dioxide and produce hydrogen with help of special enzymes. In the long run, the results will contribute to the development of synthetic catalysts, which will enable the acceleration of biochemical processes as efficiently as natural enzymes.
