Silica incorporation into newly synthesized cell walls and its effects on physiological properties of plant cells

Little is known about the oxide silica, but it has major effects on the interactions of plant cells and thus also the harvest. A little bit of silica mitigates the influence of stress factors in plants, while a lot of silica hinders the use of plants as feed and biofuel. The aim of the project is to clarify the interactions between plant cells and silica.
