Andreas Diefenbach's research aims to understand how the immune system identifies infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, and cancer cells. As an Einstein Professor for microbiology at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin Andreas Diefenbach actively supports research in the field of immunological science. Furthermore he is the director of the Institute for Microbiology and Hygiene at the Charité and the same department at the Labor Berlin GmbH. After starting his international career in the US in Berkeley and New York, Andreas Diefenbach held professorships in Freiburg and Mainz before coming to Berlin.
