In the award-winning graduate school, scientists from Charité-Universitätsmedizin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, and other partner organizations dedicate themselves to a common goal: research into cancer. To this end, BSIO offers an integrative, three-year doctoral program in oncological research for both natural scientists and medical and social science-trained young talents. The graduate school is located at the interface of bioscientific research and clinical application. Involving hematologists, oncologists, molecular biologists, surgeons and other experts, it provides young researchers with the necessary theoretical background and practical experience to jointly develop new forms of diagnosis and therapy.
The prize money will be used to offer lab visits, summer schools and orientation years for students at the BSIO, among other things, in order to attract the best minds to oncology at an early stage. The graduate school would also like to advocate for a more flexible curriculum for medical and scientific degree programs in order to generate enthusiasm for collaborative, experimental research and work.ng offers strengthens the international visibility of infection research in Berlin.
