On 1 January 2026, the Einstein Research Unit “Technologies in Global Health – From Innovation to Users (and Back)” will officially commence. Working in partnership with academic institutions in Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda, researchers will explore how new technologies in the fields of vaccines, antimicrobial resistance, and mental health can be developed, tested, and implemented.

Einstein Visiting Fellow Professor Wonwoo Nam is researching how metalloenzymes produce oxygen through photosynthesis and how they are used in the body for various vital reactions. This basic knowledge is crucial for the transition towards a green chemistry.

At its July meeting, the Board of the Einstein Foundation Berlin approved new funding totaling €9.6 million. The focus is on topics such as the mental health of young people, the role of soils and bodies of water in the climate system, and alternative forms of economic planning.
