Perceptions of Egypt: Drawings of the Prussian Egypt Expeditions

The expedition led by Richard Lepsius (1842-1845) had a lasting impact on Berlin's cultural and scientific landscape. In addition to original objects, plaster casts and copies of inscriptions, the expedition also produced drawings by the five draughtsmen and two architects on the expedition. The joint Einstein research project of the FU Berlin, the TU Berlin, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Egyptian Museum aims to digitally catalogue and interdisciplinary analyse this collection of drawings. The project is led by Tonio Sebastian Richter (FU Berlin) and Bénédicte Savoy (TU Berlin).
