Physics professors Oliver Benson and Kurt Busch from the Humboldt University in Berlin are teaming up with their Israeli colleagues Ronen Rapaport and Uriel Levy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the next three years. As part of the Einstein research project "Actiplant", the researchers are trying to find out how the emission and absorption of light can be controlled using insights from quantum mechanics. They are working on the smallest scale: they want to study and manipulate individual light quanta.
