Electrical synapses and their functional significance in neuronal networks are still poorly understood. A research group led by Michael Brecht (Humboldt University of Berlin) aims to change this. Among other things, the scientists want to investigate how efficient electrical synaptic coupling is and how this affects the network level as well as information processing and, ultimately, behaviour.
