The axonal code of information processing

A new discovery in the brain is the starting point of the Einstein research project by Tengis Gloveli (Charité-Universitätsmedizin) and Michael Brecht (Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience). They recently provided the first evidence that the axon of a nerve cell not only receives information, but also sends signals itself. Now they want to find out how axonal activity changes in different behaviourally relevant situations.
