Berlin Panel of Students Eligible to Study - Explanatory factors for the low proportion of educationally disadvantaged groups at Berlin universities

Berlin's young people from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds are still less likely to aim for a university degree than young people whose parents are academics. There is a lot of debate about why this is and how it can be changed. The project “Berlin Panel of Students Eligible to Study - Explanatory Factors for the Low Proportion of Less-Educated Groups at Berlin Universities” aims to get to the bottom of these reasons in more detail. The research team around Prof. Dr. Katharina Spieß and Heike Solga examine why students from Berlin decide to study or not and under what conditions they study. The research project, which has been planned for many years, is intended to provide a comprehensive look at the decision-making alternatives of young people in Berlin.
