Einstein Student Support for Corona Medical Emergency
The Einstein Foundation Berlin supports students to be temporarily employed in the primary medical care within the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. For this purpose, the Einstein Foundation will provide the Charité with 300.000 Euros as part of the “Einstein Student Support for Corona Medical Emergency” program. Over the next three months, around 100 students can each receive a salary of 1.000 euros per month. The background is the predicted lack of nursing staff caused by the corona pandemic.
“With this initiative, the Einstein Foundation assists the Charité in its effort to meet the upcoming medical and nursing challenges as well as possible. The support of students also intends to honor and promote the important social commitment of young people,” says Günter Stock, CEO of the Einstein Foundation.
“We very much welcome this initiative. Since in the next few days and weeks, we will have to treat a large number of patients. In this situation, medical or nursing students can make an important contribution. Many of them already gained nursing experience or completed relevant training before starting their studies,” says Heyo Kroemer, CEO of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Students of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin or the Alice Salomon Hochschule interested in the emergency aid program can contact the Charité directly at stud-freiwillige@charite.de. A short application should include the certificate of university enrollment as well as corresponding evidence of nursing experience. Students are selected and used based on their suitability. They can determine the duration of their assignment and their daily working hours based on availability.
