New podcast from the Einstein Foundation Berlin: Einstein on Air – Große Fragen, Berliner Antworten

How can diseases be detected before they develop? Why do the findings of scientific studies contradict one another? Is there other life in the universe? These are just some of the questions explored by the Einstein Foundation Berlin's new podcast, Einstein on Air. The podcast examines complex scientific topics and explains them clearly without oversimplifying them.

In conversations lasting around 30 minutes, leading scientists from Berlin share insights into their work. Episodes are recorded in the places where research is conducted: laboratories, offices and other working environments. In this way, Berlin's research landscape itself becomes part of the listening experience. Additional segments provide context, explain methods and terminology, and convey the context in which scientific knowledge is produced in Berlin. Ten episodes are planned each year.

"As the Einstein Foundation, we want to use our unique access to outstanding research in the city to build a bridge to the everyday lives of people interested in science: through personal conversations with researchers who make their work tangible and show the opportunities it may create for the future," says Thorsten Wilhelmy, Managing Director of the Einstein Foundation Berlin.

In the opening episode, Leif Erik Sander, one of the spokespersons for the Einstein Center for Early Disease Interception and Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, explains new approaches to the early detection of disease. The episode explores how molecular changes could be identified before symptoms appear using high-resolution techniques, bioinformatics and artificial intelligence-and the questions this raises about preventive care, overdiagnosis and access to precision medicine.

Einstein on Air – Große Fragen, Berliner Antworten is available on the Einstein Foundation Berlin's website and on all major podcast platforms. The series follows the previous podcast, #AskDifferent, which remains available online.
