As a postdoc, would you like to gain experience both at a Berlin university and at an independent research institution? The Berlin Career Track “Academia” is now offering this opportunity as part of a pilot phase supported by the Einstein Foundation Berlin.
The Berlin Career Track "Academia" pilot project of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) and Berlin Research 50 (BR50) supports international postdoctoral researchers working on a joint research project in cooperation between a BUA university or Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and a non-university research institution. The Einstein Foundation Berlin supports the project through its Einstein Postdoctoral Grant programme.
Key information for interested applicants
- Target group: International postdoctoral researchers planning a collaborative research project between a BUA institution and a non-university BR50 research institute.
- International experience: At the time of application, applicants must have at least two years of research experience outside the EU, Norway or Switzerland.
- Funding: The Einstein Foundation Berlin will fund a full-time position for up to four years, with remuneration in accordance with TV-L salary grades E13 to E15.
- Employer: The employer will be the respective BUA institution: Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin or Charité. It will assume the legal and administrative responsibilities.
- Submission: Applications may be submitted exclusively through TU Berlin, FU Berlin, HU Berlin or Charité. Interested applicants should identify a host at one of these eligible universities at an early stage and approach a participating non-university research institution to secure its involvement in their project.
- Deadlines: The internal deadlines are 18 September 2026 for TU Berlin and 5 October 2026 for FU Berlin, HU Berlin and Charité. The submission deadline for the Einstein Foundation Berlin is 16 November 2026.

- Prepare the application jointly and submit it by the deadline.
