As part of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's “Science Year 2024 - Freedom”, we are asking our fellows and associates. The first question of freedom goes to Einstein Guest Researcher Vedat Demir: What does the restriction of freedom of press mean for everyday life and science?

The prize will be awarded by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at the beginning of June 2024 and honors significant accomplishments and contributions to manufacturing technologies, processes, technical writing, education, research and management.

The neuroscientist has been researching autism spectrum disorders at Charité since the beginning of 2022. The funding from the European Research Council amounts to 2.5 million euros.

How are societies changing as a result of immigration, aging, and new forms of work and social relationships? And what opportunities, but also challenges, arise from these changes? The new Einstein Center Population Diversity aims to answer these questions. It brings together researchers from various Berlin institutions to study demographic change through the lens of the family.

AskDifferent #31 – If you ask Yves Moreau, we are drunk teenagers losing control of the car we are driving – at least when it comes to artificial intelligence. The 2023 Einstein Foundation Individual Award winner studies biomedical DNA data and describes himself as a “concerned scientist.” In this metaphor-packed episode of #AskDifferent, he describes the cultural shift he would like to see regarding the way we deal with artificial intelligence, how he helped push prestigious scientific journals to retract articles, and what the future holds for ethical standards in technological engineering.

The exhibition portraits gender struggle in trade unions in German, Turkish, and Kurdish language. It was co-developed by Einstein Fellow Handan Çağlayan and will be on display between March 15th and April 15th 2024 before moving on.
