In December, the Einstein Foundation Berlin's Executive Board approved funding among others for Oya Cingöz and Christoph Sander as the first Einstein Starting Researcher.

The Einstein Foundation Berlin is to honor Belgian bioinformatician Yves Moreau, the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences, and the Responsible Research Assessment Initiative with this year’s Einstein Foundation Award for Promoting Quality in Research. 

The Executive Board of the Einstein Foundation Berlin approved more new structural funding for Berlin’s research landscape, including a new Einstein Center for Population Diversity and a preparation module for an Einstein Center for Early Disease Interception.

Scottish choreographer and performer Claire Cunningham is to become the Einstein Professor of „Choreography, Dance and Disability Arts“ at the Inter-University Centre for Dance (HZT) from the winter semester 2023/24.

The Einstein Foundation will invest two million euro in a new fellowship programme to deepen academic links across the Channel between Oxford University and the Berlin University Alliance. The focus is on two of the biggest challenges of our time: global health and social cohesion.

She will take over as Director of the Charité Institute of International Health and Co-Head of the Charité Centre Global Health. This will further establish and anchor this important field in Germany and Berlin.

On 1 July 2022, Ludovic Vallier, an expert in pluripotent stem cells and organoids, will take up an Einstein Strategic Professorship for Stem Cells in Regenerative Therapies at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité.

The aim of the Einstein Center 3R (Replace, Reduce, Refine) is to develop new therapies for human diseases by improving the transferability of research while also taking into view animal welfare. It is funded by the Einstein Foundation with 5,3 million Euro until the end of 2026.

TU Berlin has established a new Einstein Professorship in the area of mixed signal circuit design. The professorship of Prof Dr Friedel Gerfers, funded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin, is intended to significantly strengthen research and development into the latest 5G and 6G communication systems in Berlin.
